Silver School Games Mark!

We are thrilled to announce that our school has achieved the Silver School Games Mark for the 2016-2017 academic year.  The School Games Mark is a Government-led award scheme launched in 2012, facilitated by the Youth Sport Trust, to reward schools for their commitment to the development of PE and competition across their school and into the community.

As part of the application, we were asked to fulfil criteria in the areas of sports participation, competition, workforce and clubs, and we are delighted to have been recognised for our progress and success this year.

A big thank you goes out to everyone who has contributed to our PE and School Sport provision this year and we look forward to going for GOLD next year!

Fun All Stars Cricket Session!

Our Year 2 children loved their ‘All Stars’ Cricket session with Andy from Warwickshire County Cricket Club, introducing them to the game of cricket and developing their catching and batting skills.

All Stars Cricket is a brand-new initiative from the England and Wales Cricket Board aimed at providing children aged five to eight with a great first experience in cricket.

Well done Year 2, looks like you had lots of fun!

If you would like to get involved with the All Stars Cricket programme, please see Mr Steadman.

Year 6 PE enrichment

We were thrilled to have sports students from the University of Birmingham and sports leaders from the UOB school in this week to work with our Year 6 children.  Our children loved the tag rugby rugby, netball, athletics and multi-skill activities that were delivered together with the teamwork emphasis.  Many thanks everyone for making it a great afternoon for our children.

Harborne District Football Trials

We are very excited to have selected a number of Year 4 and 5 children to attend these trials as we feel they are ready and would benefit from this level of football.

Mr Steadman, who represented South Birmingham district as a young goalkeeper, will be attending on the day to offer his support and watch the children’s progress. He said, “It is a great honour and privilege to be play for your District, and it provides an ideal opportunity to develop as a player and a person.  The higher standard of football means that matches are frequented by professional football scouts, offering a further pathway to develop.

Finger crossed for all players!

Birmingham Royal Ballet Success

We were thrilled to receive this letter from Birmingham Royal Ballet this week to inform us that 3 of our Year 1 children.  have secured places on their Gifted & Talented ‘Dance Track’ programme from September 2017.  This is a monumental achievement as they were chosen from 4000 children from across Birmingham and the West Midlands taking part in school workshops, and from 737 children who reached the final workshops at Birmingham Hippodrome.  We are so proud of them and will support them on their exciting journey.
