Our girls football team won the Birmingham City Ladies FC ‘Sister Club’ schools tournament for the second year running with some outstanding performances at Four Dwellings Academy recently. They demonstrated high levels of skill, energy, passion, team work and commitment to win the tournament against 7 other schools with a record of: Played 6 matches, Won 5, Drew 1, Lost 0, Scoring 21 goals and Conceding 0. Truly impressive! Well done girls, we are proud of you!
All after school clubs, including sports clubs, are now integral to our new Four Dwellings Primary Academy University programme. This aims to raise attainment across all areas of curriculum; develop a love of learning; create new aspirations for our children and increase in engagement in out of school learning. The response from children and parents has been very positive!
Already this term, we have run ‘Active Academy’, girls & boys football (KS1 & 2), Quick sticks hockey, basketball and Mini-Olympians (KS1) after school clubs, with more exciting clubs being organised for the Spring and Summer Terms. Watch out for information on the newsletters and other letters sent home! Get involved and get inspired!
Our Reception children continue to have lots of fun in their ‘moving to learn and learning to move’ PE programme. This term, the children have been experimenting with different ways of moving; learning to jump and land appropriately from different objects; and taking part in running and chasing games, adjusting their speed and direction to avoid being caught! We even played tennis!
We were thrilled to welcome the children and staff from St John Bosco Catholic Primary School for a competitive inter-school Quick sticks hockey tournament on the MUGA. Both schools have run hockey clubs this term and this was a great opportunity for all children to apply and use their learnt skills in a fun, competitive experience. We also managed to win the fixture overall by winning 5 matches and drawing 1 matches out of the 8 matches played. Many thanks to Mr Loveridge, the hockey coach from King Edward VI Aston, for organising the first of hopefully many more!
Our children have recently been given the opportunity to attend football coaching session at Four Dwellings Academy, organised by The Albion Foundation, the charity of West Bromwich Albion Football Club. Originally organised as a transitional activity for our Year 6 children, such was the interest from our children in the club, the sessions were made available for all Key Stage 2 children. We look forward to the sessions continuing in 2018 and strengthening our links with Four Dwellings Academy and The Albion Foundation.
Our boys football team proudly wore their new Premier League Stars kit in a thrilling Harborne District Football League fixture against Woodhouse.
