Active children learn better!

Here is the proof – active children have more active brains and therefore are better learners!

‘Sister’ Club Member

It’s official – we are ‘Sister Club’ members for the 2017 Spring Series.  The number of ‘Sister Club’ members has doubled this year so lots more opportunities for our school to work with and compete against other clubs/schools.

Tremendous Tennis in Year 4

Coinciding with the Australian Open, Year 4 have been enjoying tennis coaching from Mr Lancaster from Lordswood Tennis Club this half term.  He has been working on movement and ‘ball sense’, forehand and backhand strokes – the children have loved his challenges!  The children can now access free tennis sessions at Mr Lancaster’s club.  The children are also looking forward to the inter-class competition.

Balanceability in Nursery!

Our Nursery children had a real treat this week when they had a go at ‘Balanceability’ bike riding in PE.  ‘Balanceability’ uses balance bikes to establish fundamental balance skills that are required for cycling without stabilisers.  The children loved their experience and really impressed the instructor with their skills, confidence and the thoughtful questions that they asked!

Year 5 & 6 Football

Our boys’ football team (including Ruby Hill) showed great character and resilience to come back from 2-0 down and then 3-1 down to beat Highfields Primary 4-3 in a friendly match on Thursday evening.  As they got to grips with the game and their opponents, the boys started to compete and the pass the ball better, creating a number of goalscoring chances.  Well done all particularly Kemanie in his first match!

After School Dodgeball Club

We have recently started a new dodgeball club for Year 3 and 4 children, based on responses from ‘Pupil Voice’.  This club is organised and delivered by Year 11 pupils from Lordswood Girls Secondary School as part of their activity leadership module.  As you can see, it is an fast-paced, fun and energetic club!  If you would like to join the fun, please speak to Mr Steadman.
