Christmas-themed PE in Reception

The Reception children really enjoyed their Christmas-themed PE lessons this week.  They explored and created actions linked to Christmas themes working individually, in pairs and in groups of 3.  They then used these actions in a running and tagging game that involved Christmas elves, Christmas puddings and a Christmas fairy!  Great fun!

Girls football success under the lights!

Our girls’ football teams finished 1st and 2nd in a mini-tournament against Highfields Primary School this evening.  You should all be proud of the enthusiasm, commitment, teamwork and skill you demonstrated and how you represented our school.  Also, well done to our debutants – Iman (as GK), Ria, Keira and Grace who fitted in seamlessly.  DAZZLING!   Here are the girls listening to a pep talk from Mr Steadman beforehand…

New Parents Running Club

In January 2017, we are organising a running programme for our parents and wider community led by Tahir from ‘Run Birmingham’.  It is a 9-week programme called ‘Couch to 5K’ where we hope to be able to address levels of inactivity amongst our school community.  Tahir will support us with basic running advice including routines for warming up, stretching and cooling down.  Each participant will have their own copy of the programme which includes access to weekly podcasts to support you.

We are using the weeks leading up to Christmas as signing up and taster sessions.  Come along and join us on Tuesday mornings from 9.30am and get fit in 2017.

Running is free and you can do it anywhere. It has a huge impact on your physical and mental health.  The ‘Couch to 5K’ programme starts gently and builds up each week, finishing off with a 5K run.

Mr Steadman completes PE course

Mr Steadman, our Sports Coordinator, is delighted to have recently achieved his Level 5 Certificate in Primary PE Specialism.  Although he said it was hard work, he is now looking forward to putting the knowledge and the skills he has developed into action with our children to ensure they continue to receive the very best PE and sports provision.
